Imagine this... sitting on the front porch swing on a perfect summer's evening while reading a book with one of your favorite people. Sound heavenly? It is for me. Brook's not a "reader" per say. She'll do her reading assignments, but you'll never find her curled up in a blanket reading her favorite book. She will, however, patiently cuddle up next to me while I read to her... and I love it. Right now we're reading "Heaven is Here." It's a story of a young couple that survived a horrific airplane crash. The story depicts their love for one another, their struggles, faith and determination while doing their best to overcome physical and emotional trials. It boosts my spirits, makes me weep and increases my faith.
Mine and Brook's evenings of reading wouldn't be complete without a spoon in our hand and half gallon of Rocky Road ice cream. No bowls, just the spoons and the ice cream container. Sometimes we opt for a healthier option and go for fresh-picked cherries. I really don't care what we're snacking on or what we're reading as long as I have her by my side. It's a little bit of heaven.
