Grandpa Merlyn Dansie's Funeral 2012

My Grandpa Merlyn was a quiet man that spoke by his actions.
He was a man of integrity, honesty and had an incredible work ethic.
He helped me with my wood projects (water flute, scrapbook, colored pencil holders and more), teased me about my summer freckles saying that I was kissing the boys, always called me sweetheart and we loved doing puzzles together. He teased our girls by calling them boys, meowed like a cat, chirped like a bird and drew the best Bugs Bunny. He played the tuba in the Post Office Band and let me play my flute at his band practices. He loved to whistle church hymns and my favorite to hear him whistle was "How Great Thou Art." He was nonjudgmental and allowed everyone to be themselves... and loved them for it. I loved watching him figure out the dimensions for grandma's quilts, taste her chocolates, and watch him eat crackers or bread and milk. He slept in his chair and work truck, but would immediately wake up with one word... grandpa. He always told me he loved me and gave great hugs. I miss you grandpa. Until we meet again, thanks for the memories and I know you'll be watching over us.

The bass clef represented grandpa's love for music and playing the tuba

Such a handsome man

The flowers received were beautiful... the words on the cards heartfelt

My sweet grandmother. Such faith and so much love for everyone.

Flowers on the casket. The white lily represented my Grandma Vae, red roses their children, white roses the grandchildren and pink roses the great grandchildren.

The pine casket was the perfect choice... representing my grandfather's talent of building ANYTHING!
His hands were big and strong, his heart was even bigger.

Brook, Grace, Jan and Paul Crane played "Families Can Be Together Forever" during the service

After the service, we all returned to the cemetery and released over 100 balloons into the sky. It was so symbolic and beautiful!
